I have a Hotpoint refrigerator in the house and it is thawing out the food in the freezer and then refreezing it. Anything on the top shelf of the refrigerator gets frozen.
I got another refrigerator for a back up. This one has one temperature Frozen--bottem and top and it will not defrost. It is a newer Kenmore.
Diagnois Please.
Which one is the easier and cheapest to repair?

It's hard to say which one would be cheaper. Both of them sound cheap to fix because all you have are problems with the defrost systems and thermostats, and maybe a freezer fan not working. Try defrosting the one that won't defrost by unplugging it and opening the doors. Then see how well it works for a day or two. If it works then you probably only have a bad defrost system which is easy to diagnose and fix with a meter.
