    Odd DC switch
I need to find an 12 VDC activated switch, and with that I mean a switch that when a 12 volt current is fed through a circuit inside a device it activates the switch part of the device which is connected to a different circuit, thus closing said circuit, then when the 12 volt current is fed through the device again it flips the switch again opening the other circuit. I know this is a confusing question and all, but if you understand me could you tell me the official name of such a device so I can get one?

Devices as you describe are generally called relays. Relays that maintain state when de-energized are called latching relays.
