    A 2000 Honda civic. It wants to die when. You give it gas after it is hot.bitter when it is could. It runs good

    Check for codes. It may be that the Ignition Control Module (ICM) is failing. If you replace it, apply silicone heat transfer grease to the back of the new ICM.

    A flashing check engine light means bad stuff for the catalytic converter. It indicates that the problem with the engine operation is causing physical damage to the converter: i.e.: excessive amounts of raw gas is being introduced directely into the converter rather than being consumed inside the engine.
    Have this diagnosed before it causes irreparable damage to the converter.

    Yes, the ICM is likely bad, causing raw gas to build-up in the catalytic converter. This is a very dangerous situation, where the exhaust system can be blown off the car. I'd replace the ICM and coil, located inside the distributor, ASAP.
