Frigidaire front load dryer eating my clothes
Hello, the inside drum on my older frigidaire front loading dryer is "loose" or wobbly and seems to be eating clothes.

The clothes get stuck in the upper front area and burn. Clothes with strings etc may actually get their string ripped off.

I tried to tighten the back area screws but then decided to clean out the lint from the back of the drum (I could see it through the screen). I thought the screen came off to clean it, but alas all I did was drop the drum! Yes, that was dumb.

Then while the door was open the back of the dryer heated up after the drum lowered onto something. I had to kill the circuit (yes, should have done that first but thought the back was just a detachable screen, not the drum screws).

Should I try to fix it or do you think I damaged the electrical system? Why would it start heating rapidly with the door open just because the drum lowered?

Thanks! And, I am not sure I can even get parts! Model # is FSE748GFS1

How old is the unit exactly?

It doesn't sound too bad. You have a felt liner that will need to be replaced and you will have to totally tear it down and clean it well. Make sure to get a new belt and white lithium grease to lubricate moving parts that need grease. Here is some help: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/Fri...0Equipment.zip
You also need to check out the safeties and t-stats. When the drum dropped you probably damaged one. Most parts are easy to get even on old models because many are generic.
