    Adding Washer/Dryer to basement
I want to add my washer/Dryer to basement. The water in/elec and dryer vent I can handle. I do however have a question on the washer water outlet.

I will be adding the washer about 12 feet to the right of the drain pipe in the linked photo. Here

Can I cut the drain pipe close to the floor and then install a drain pipe with a slight angle from the washer? If so does it need a vent on the drain pipe?

I have read some info on adding a drain this low ill cause the drain water to back up and possibly overflow.
Should I add a trap as in the 2nd pic below the first one? Will an extra long trap like this work OK?

All drains need traps and there is the possibility of drain water siphoning your trap with no vent. Does your local plumbing code allow issue of an AAV?

    Yes you can.

Yes, you will have to either,
1- Run a vent out the roof
2- Run a vent to the attic and connect to a existing roof vent **or**
3- If local codes allow you may install a AAV.

Yes, and out of that trap you will add a 36" stand pipe. Good luck, Tom

So I finished plumbing in the drain. Still haven't run the water to the sink yet. Does this look OK? Should the vent be moved down some or is it OK at that height?

Is that a washer box I see tucked away behind the shelves? What's it doing there? Let me know. Tom

Hey guys! That is the OLD washer box... nkotbox has moved the new washer/dryer setup down and into the basement.

My guess is that he is draining the new washer into the set tubs as he only shows the drain and AAV vent at the sink.

In this case, to answer his question, Yes the height of the AAV vent is just fine. It could actually have been lower as it only needs to rise 6 inches above the drain pipe, but I like to run them up high, too.

    Good luck!

Great, I was reading online about max distance from the trap that the vent could be. Guess its not an issue for the washer box to be in with the shelves. I did cap them off.

I also removed the outlets and ran the wiring from there to the new basement location.

Yes I am draining the washer into the new tub. I wanted a tub anyway so I added it rather than adding a drain for the washer.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
