    Spider veins and exercise
Two months ago I began walking. I am now up to two miles every other day and feel great. Although I haven't lost much weight, I am smaller. Anyway, I have some spider veins and I've noticed that as my activity level increases and my muscles are beginning to firm, sometimes these veins bother me. Not swelling or terrific pain, just some general discomfort. Should I be overly concerned? All the literature I've read says exercise is great. Thanks.

Yes, exercise is great. However, you should have a check up if you have not done so already. Have you had blood tests done, including cholesterol?

You may want to wear (I know it sounds stupid) but if you are a gal you may want to wear support hose while exercising.

Understand that you should always have a check up and let your doctor know about your new exercise routine. I used to think it sounded "dumb" and never actually understood why. But your physician can help determine what level of your exercise activity you can do safely.
