    Tick Bite
Hello. My husband removed a tick from my head on Thursday, July 19th. He removed the entire tick at this time. It has become very very sore and itchy. A knot has also formed at the infected area. It seems to have small blisters as well. Is this normal and what can I do to ease the soreness. Thank you.

Even if a tick isn't carrying Lyme disease or some other similar conditions, bacteria can move into any hole left by a bug bite, so it's important to wash it with soap and water when you first see it. Also, you may have thought that the whole tick was removed but it wasn't, and that's what's itching and forming a bump. If you start getting any flue like symptoms, fever, spreading rash, splotchy spots, or anything unusual, go to a doctor for antibiotics and a Lyme test, or if the rash is really spreading, antibiotics for cellulitis.

A daily application of antibiotic ointment should do the trick. Also go out and buy some liquid band-aid so you can seal the wound. Ticks carry all kind of bacteria so you may just want to err on the side of safety and get your doctor to prescribe some oral antibiotics for you.
