Can I or should I use copper water pipe if I have a water softner?
I've been told that the conditioned water will take the minerals from the copper pipe resulting in leaks eventually.
Is this true ?
This is new construction.

PEX or CPVC is the preferred method now.

Hi, Thanks for quick response.
It was actually a plumber that told me that.
I think he was actually trying to 'save' me. I was planning on doing it myself.
So, suppose I should use pex and get some estimates.

PEX is fine but you need special tools and the pressure rating is less than CPVC.

And I think the plumber was trying to scare you into giving him the job. My company has put in hundreds of units piped with copper with no complaints.
However, Just like galvanized has been replaced with copper. Copper has been replaced with plastic. Good luck, Tom

I ended up hiring a different plumber and we agreed on PEX.
