Eviction process in New York state
I was given an eviction court date. My landlord told me not to go, he will handle it. I didn't go. Was a judgment filed against me for not showing up? Where can I go to find this information?

You can contact the court clerk's office at the location shown on the complaint you received. Give them the docket number on the complaint and they should be able to tell you if it was dismissed or if a judgment was granted.

Why would you let the landlord handle it? Were you being evicted for non payment and did you bring the account up to date? Or did you repair whatever breach of the lease that was the grounds for the eviction? Unless this was the case, the landlord is the one evicting you! If you don't show, the court issues an eviction order and the next step would be for the landlord to hire a sheriff to remove you.
