    Making a payment
Does making a payment to a collection agency change the status of who the origonal crditor is. In other words, I was sued by a 4th party collection agency and I made a few payments to stop the judgement. A few months later I wrote the collection agency and asked who the original creditor of the debt was and they replied they were. Did making a payment change the status?

Yes by making a payment reaffirmed the original contract they became the hold from the assigment.

I had the same question. Depending on your state laws, making a payment may reaffirm a contract. In some states, payments do not revive a contract unless accompanied by a signed acknowledgment or promise to pay (including your signature on a check payment with the referenced account # written on the check). Are you in the U.S. If so, what state?

I read your other threads; does this have to do with the same debt relative to the summons you received?
