    Alcohol consumption 20 hours ago
I drank 2 glasses of wine between 8pm and 10 pm last night then had a urine drug and alcohols screen at 7pm tonight about 20 hours later. Will I test positive for ETG? They use 100/ng test

There is a good chance that you will. At 100ng cutoff clearance time for EtG from 2 drinks is generally in area of 26-32 hours.

I had 2 187 ml small bottles of merlot. I started drinking water about 10 am today and continues drinking it through out the day.. Will that affect the results?

There is no question that the test is markedly sensitive to water. The alcohol from the wine was gone from your system within 4 hours and that is when EtG production ended. Any water consumption the following day, anytime after BAC=0, tends to accelerate clearance. That just may put you in the clear.

Please let us know the results.

I would really like to know if you passed. I'm in exactly the same boat.

I had 8 ounces of wine and will be EtG tested at exactly 24 hours. 135 lb female, 48 years old and active. Can I pass this test?

Let's figure it out. How do you know it was 8 oz and what was the alcohol content, and over what period did you consume the drinks? Also what is your height?

I was at a wine bar and they measure the wine in 4 ounce increments. I drank it over an hour and had a salad. I am 5'7

Using 12% alcohol content you had 1.6 standard drinks (US). At your weight that is .37 g/kg of body weight. The closest I can come is a range of 22-32 hours but that is higher consumption than you had. The food while drinking is helpful. Some of the alcohol is metabolized in your stomach. However, when it is that close it is always an open question due to the variability in EtOH metabolism and EtG synthesis and elimination both highly variable. Did you drink any type of liquid afterwards?

Tons. Before bed iced tea and a bottle of water, today green tea, coconut water, lemon water and a 4 mile run.

Thanks for your help. I can only hope for the best.

That may turn the tables. EtG is very sensitive to fluid intake.

Please keep us posted when you get the results.

Hello. Just wanted to update you. My test was negative. I'm glad it was but I won't do that again. My drug of choice is not alcohol but its not worth it to me to lose what I have gained by indulging in a drink every now and then. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the update. I think you have made a wise decision to abstain while subjected to this test. This incident was a close call.
