    I3 processor?
I just needed an basic desktop computer to hold us off till I can afford to get the Mac desktop PC I need for school. So I bought a Dell 4g, 500g hard drive and an I3 processor. I had never heard of i3 processor and the guy in the store said how great it was. So was that true and is that a really good processor? I thought the dual core were the best? What is the latest in techno world?

    Hi Maddy6,

My name is Nischith and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

When the manufacturers reached a limit on putting more transistors on a single core, they increased the cores. The rise in number of cores substantially boosts computing power. All the three lines of core i3, Pentium dual core and core 2 duo processors have two cores.

Intel i3 is in fact a dual core processor, but with more features than the previous generation of dual core processors. The Intel i3 processor has a faster bus speed (transfer speed) and more cache memory than an Intel Core Duo processor, also has integrated graphics.

Many benchmark test results have revealed that the core i3 processor is far superior to the dual core and core 2 duo lines.
