My granddaughter's mother and father do not have health insurance on her. Her dad changed jobs and it is not available and her mother cannot afford the cost of the insurance through her company. I spoke with my employer and they said that I can add her to mine if they signed custody over to me. We live in Texas, can someone point me in the right direction to accomplish this. I would prefer not to have to utilize a attorney, because none of us can afford that.

Just so I have this right - you are not committing fraud. They actually are signing custody to you and she actually is going to live with you - ?

I would not do this without an Attorney.

Custody is one thing; guardianship is another.

Yes you may do it, both parents will have to agree to sign the child over to you and the child will then move in and you will raise the child.

I would consider, since health insurance is so cheap for children, you should just help pay for the insurance.
