Work in New York live in New Jersey
I work in NY City but live in New Jersey how do I do my taxes for the state?

You must file for BOTH states.

You WILL pay taxes to NY, but it is likely that the credit given by NJ for NY taxes paid will completely offset yor NJ tax liability.

But shouldn't I get something back from either state? Since NY is Higher than NJ?

If you had any taxes withheld for NJ, you will probably get it all back plus the renter's rebate.

    I cannot about NY.
