My girlfriend ended it a few weeks ago and I don't want to lose her
We had been dating for about 4 months. She was stressing out about everything and told me that she loves me but doesn't want to hurt me by not seeing me as much. She is a stubborn hard nosed person and wants to figure stuff out on her own right now. She heard that I was crying over it and she said she felt really bad but and said maybe in the future we can get back together.

Things from her past are coming back to haunt her right now. She's been raped, has done drugs and alcohol, and has been beaten by her other ex and had a miscarriage. I'm not sure if I should be there as a shoulder to cry on or not? She doesn't have many friends and I was basically the only one she talked to besides her mom.

Normally when someone tells another what she told you I would say ( move on) but for some reason your question didn't seem like that would be the right answer.

Give her some time to figure things out, mind you though when she does it might not include you later in her future as a man and woman relationship in the way you hope.

This girl/woman needs a lot of professional help to deal with what she has been through.

Are strong enough to be able to cope with her maybe saying we can only be friends in the future.Keep in mind now that this dealing of her problems could be a very long term thing.

Now if you know in your heart that it would be too much for you to handle, that she might say it will only ever be friends then start looking for someone else. As she is telling you already to basically " She does not know what the future is going to be for you and her".

For that I do give her credit for being honest with you
