    Protein in the urine
I have type two diabetes. They found some protein in the urine only once.
The doctor gave torsemide (a diuretic) I gave up eating red meat.
That was two years ago. Since that time:
They never found any proteins since then, And I did not qualify
For any further studies. I often wonder what happen. Was I not urinating enough to flush the kidneys, or did too much red meat have anything to do with it?? The doctor told me the kidneys were working just fine.

Diabetes will cause protein in the urine. If you control your diabetes, then it can go away. Most diabetics with protein in their urine are placed on meds called ACE inhibitors. (ex, lisinopril, benazepril) These meds help protect the kidneys from diabetes.
