1999 Honda Accord Check Engine light
My check engine light is on, at times it blinks and most of the time it is simply lit. The other issue is the cars start up. At times its starts up with a sputter and even turns back off, however if I hit the gas pedal slightly, it will start up with no issues. There are also times when it will start up with no problem after the sputtering has occurred, but if it sits it often does sputter or turn off. Could this be related to the check engine light ?

    Sorry for the length...

. Check for codes, by attaching a code reader to the data link connector under the dash.

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil located inside the distributor. Apply silicone heat transfer grease to the back of the new ICM.

. Replace the rotor and distributor cap, if they have not been replaced in 60,000 miles.

Well I found out that one of the codes is a P1738, which is automatic trans-axle issue or 2nd clutch pressure switch. Are you familiar with either ?

Try changing the transmission fluid, which should be done every 30,000 miles, and see if the situation improves.
