    Garnishment holding a bank account
Can they take funds from a savings account that are from a guaranteed student loan in the state of Indiana. The garnishment is for a vehicle I cosigned for 5 years ago with my boy friend

    Hello patty:

They don't know where the money came from, and they're not going to bother to find out. If you have direct deposit of your loan proceeds, then I would stop it.

As excon said, they don't know ( and don't really care) where the funds came from, it is just a bank account to them.

So yes of course they can freeze that account.

If and when they do, you will have to file a motion to have those funds released and prove where those funds came from, or what percent of them is this or that.
