    No fetal node in USG
    Hello,

I am 6 weeks 2 days pregnant. (LMP 4th June 2012). My regular ultrasound (vaginal USG is not done in my city) shows uterine gestational sac about 5 - 6 weeks old but no fetal node. I have had no bleeding not even spotting, but have been intermittently having quite severe pain with occasional cramps in right iliac fossa. Appendix was not visible in the ultrasound. I am very worried as to why the fetal node is not visible. This is my first pregnancy. I am obese, 29 years old and have slightly high TSH level, and am therefore taking medicine for hypothyroidism. Please help.

    Sebanti,

The fetal pole is usually visible at around 5 - 6 weeks. But it may be missed if you had only an abdominal ultrasound and not a vaginal ultrasound, especially if you are obese. The abdominal fat may obscure the ultrasound picture.

Pain around the iliac fossa is not due to a problem with the pregnancy.

Since you have no symptoms of a miscarriage, I would not worry if I were you
