    Dishonorably discharged
    Can someone get a home loan through the va if they were dishonorably discharged. My husband was in the USMC reserves for apprx. 3 yrs. Was discharged for unsat. Participation--late to meetings.

    I don't believe you can. I know you have to show your DD219, and I think you can't have lower than a "general" discharge.

    Just asked husband (retired US Navy 21 years). Answer is no. If no longer active duty then the requirement is to be honorably discharged.

    I found this while surfing Loan Guaranty Service, Eligibility Frequently Asked Questions on the VA Home Loan Program (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs)
    It says he has to serve 6 years honorably as a reservist to be eligible, too.
