Is it okay to marry a hindu girl?
    Hello everyone,

Am a Penticostal boy in love with a Hindu girl. I have told this to my parents and they've straight forward said NO. The girl is ready to get converted and I have explained to my parents about this. It seems like my parents are more concerned about what people will think about our family. I have tried to convince my parents that to take time and let the girl get accustomed with the religion and to willingly accept it. I don't want to get married without the blessing of my parents. Am I doing a right thing? Should I marry a Hindu girl? Please need advice ASAP!

Not marry her and give into this racism? Not a good idea maybe you being with her will open your parents eyes to how sinister they were being.

Are your parents more concerned about her appearance, that she is not Caucasian, and are using the Hindu thing as their excuse for no marriage? In other words, for them she's "different" and not acceptable.

Wondergirl@ Am an Indian and no my parents haven't even seen her... its not the appearance for them, but its because she is a Hindu... My parents are typical Indian Penticostals and for them it is not acceptable, they are more into spirituality. When I suggested my intention to take time and introduce her to Christianity, they said like she is only converting because she wants to get married to me and not because she really want to become a Christian... I've tried my best to convince them, but with no benefit... I don't know what to do now... I feel like helpless!

It sounds like they have their minds made up and refuse to budge, no matter what. And of course they believe Pentecostalism is the only correct religion in the world and would probably have trouble accepting even another Christian denomination into the family--and would also say that person changed beliefs just to get married to you. So really it isn't about her being Hindu as much as it is your parents' inability to be open minded and be able to understand what Christian love really is. They have built fences around themselves to limit their thinking, and for them that gives safety.
