I have a front loading washer on a pedestal. The nearest vent is about 15ft. Away up two steps into my kitchen. Do I need to vent the actual plumbing at the washer? I overflows at the drain sometimes?

Hi Djj0211
Yes, you need a vent to be installed within about 3-5 feet of the washing machine drain PTRAP.
You can connect an 1.5" vent within the 3-5 feet and run that vent to connect into the existing vent (best job), or if permissible in your area, you can install a mechanical vent (called an AAV or air admittance valve)... see image. The AAV would be installed right at the PTRAP.
That make sense?
