Okay I'm sixteen years old and living with my parents. Not complaining about the house I live in but I'm ready to take Care of myself. However I just turned sixteen on the nineteenth of June and just got a job. I'm working at McDonald's for a part time job going to school. I make mainly b's and c's and I can take care of myself. My mom works two jobs even though the second job is just a small business she owns and does not bring in a lot of money. My dad works as well but he goes in at around 1:00 in the morning and does not get home until about 11:00 depending on his shift. When I do see my parents they ignore me. I can handle being ignored and not talked to except when I want to do something. For example I went out with a friend. We got something to eat and I missed ONE phone call from my mom. That resulted in my car being revoked and her telling me to grow the f up because apparently I'm to immature to answer her phone calls. Also when I'm around my parents, if I'm not being ignored, my dad is plying his Xbox and my mom is on the computer working. I respect there rules and there expectations. But the rel question is. Could I possible get emancipated? I plan on getting an apartment. Affordable and close I work. I made a planned budget that I can buy food and get to work. Even though I have a car now I do not think after a get emancipated that my parents would put the car in my name. I'm aware of that so I provided myself with my own transportation to work. I am most deffently planning to stay in school and keep my grades up! My parents refuse to let me move out of the house until I'm eighteen or letting me be emancipated. Would a judge consider emancipating me in the state I Tennessee where I live even I I'm not being abused in any way? Or could I share an apartment with a friend? Or live with my friends parents? If not I CAN and WILL independentlly live on my own. Also how much Mony Should I have saved up before starting this process other than the $1000 for a down payment for an apartment and the court fees? I am prepared to handle everything by myself including the bills an I understand the rules of emancipation of a minor such as the age limits of voting an drinking. TN does not have an emancipation statute - it's on a case-by-case review as presented to the Court.

I can tell you the "usual" requirements - you MUST have your own place to live. That is not a shared apartment or house, not moving in with someone else. If you are to be emancipated you truly must be able to support yourself.

Planning what you are going to do is not going to work - you would need to look at apartments, see which ones are in your price range, make up a sensible budget. Guessing isn't going to work.

You want to be emancipated but are questioning whether you can take a car with you when you leave your parents' home? That is not going to go over well in Court. You either can take care of all of your own needs or you can't. That makes you sound less like a person ready to be emancipated and more like a child.

Your employment must be sufficient to support all aspects of your life independent of other sources of income.

You must be able to purchase and maintain your own health insurance.

You must have a plan to complete your education - most States will accept a GED as a plan because you'll probably need to work full-time to support yourself. "Mainly Bs and Cs" when you weren't working? Can you work and keep up your grades? (I don't find C's as much to brag about.)

Yes, TN will need to see some reason, abuse, neglect, a parent taking a car away for not checking in will be deemed a good parent in TN.

You will need money for all the first month expense and proof that you have enough income to stay in school and pay all of the bills by yourself, ( not share with someone)ou

You will also need all of the court costs and perhaps attorney fees, my guess about 5000 saved up to start with. Next of course all of "your" things are things your parents bought you, so most likely YOUR car is their car, YOUR bed is their bed, and so on. You basically walk with your clothes and things you paid for with your own money.
