    Sound driving me crazy
There is this sound.. its almost going to drive me to the point of at least breaking something.. I can't figure it out at all.. it's a high pitched ringing that is even louder than white noise... I just have been dealing with it for at least 14 years.. I was on the swimming team since I was little.. I'm 19 now and kind of freaking out.. its going to drive me insane? How do I cope with it for now?

Everyone experiences a ringing sound in their ear when their alone. When it happens plug your ears for like 10 seconds than let go or have secondary sound to drown it out.

Would you pleast post your source for the "everyone" comment?

This could be Tinnitus - Tinnitus Causes, Medications, Treatments, and Remedies by MedicineNet.com, a recognized medical condition. I had a coworker who suffered terribly with it.

    I'd see an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist.

Really? I have never experienced it when I'm alone.

''ringing is fairly common in people who have recently listened to loud music or heard a loud noise, or has/had some sort of ear infections. Its usually harmless,''

That's not what you said in your original response to this thread. This is...
