My boyfriend and I have been togather for about six months. I knew he was on probation but he lied to me about what he was on probation for. He told me that he had got into a fight with someone after drinking too much. Six months later we moved in togather and he started being verbally abusive to me and I called the cops on him to find that he had domestic violence charges against him. He said that he lied because he was so embarrassed about the way he had treated her he also thought that I wouldn't understand and tell everyone. I feel like I can't trust him or anyone anymore and wonder why someone would lie about this? Is there anyway to build trust and work things out? If so how do I regain trust?

Certain crimes make people think differently about you. For example if you had a child and he/she had a friend down the street but the mother of that friend had a felony If the mother said ''I got a dui 3 years ago''. Your instant opinion toward her might be She made a mistake in the past but I can look past that ,and you would probably let your child go to her house to play.

But imagine if her felony was ''Child molestation''. Your instant opinion would be She is a sex offendor I don't feel safe with her looking after my child. So you wouldn't let your child go over to her house.

See what I'm getting at? Someone's past can instantly change your opinion about them. He was probably trying to protect the relationship ,and didn't want his past to ''Comeback to get him''.

His record obviously shows he's abusive. Manipulative? I guess you can call it that. Imagine if you were called a hoe by everyone would you tell him that ""hey everyone sees me as the town hoe''? When you first met? NO you wouldn't just like he wasn't going to say ''hey I beat women''. He was probably waiting until the relationship could handle the truth. He is abusive though and he proved he hasn't changed so leave him. WISE WORDS WINGS
