Hello I am hoping that someone can shed some light on my situation. I know I will probably be getting responses telling me to go to an obgyn but that is not an option right now because I do not have insurance until September. I am 25 and have two children. Prior to their births my cycles were always irregular but were stabilized with Birth control. 2 ½ months after the birth of our premature daughter I had the Mirena IUD inserted in February 2010. The insertion was awful I passed out in the car on the way home from the appointment. A few months later my period stopped coming. That was up until March of this year (2012). When it came back it was coming each month around the 25th like clockwork. However, on June25th it didn’t come. I had sore nipples, each morning for the month of June I had been waking up sick to my stomach, had almost no energy all I wanted to do was sleep, and I was getting bad acne on my face. A few days later when it still hadn’t come, I checked for my strings (sorry if this is TMI) and they were gone. My cervix was high, slightly dilated, and very, very soft. I checked every day noting that the strings were still MIA. On July 5th I woke slightly crampy and noticed that I had a stringy light pink discharge. Strings were still gone. The next day I was VERY CRAMPY and had no energy and I had started bleeding. So here is the next strange part. On the 10th of July I stopped bleeding so I checked my strings and they were back, shorter than normal but they were back! My husband and I DTD and the next morning at around 11am I went to use the bathroom and noticed that I was bleeding again. Dark red. I am still bleeding and my strings are longer than normal now. Do you guys know what is happening? My husband and I want to start trying for #3 in September ( I will be getting the Mirena out), but do you think I could be pregnant now? I forgot to mention that on the 26th of June I took a pregnancy test along with another a week later, both negative.. I am at a loss! Anyone have a similar situation?

I got mine taken out! The same thing was happening to me! It might be coming out... It only cost me $75 to get it removed and I didn't have insurance. I know you

Don't want to go to the doctor but you really should just in case something is wrong

Was yours coming out? I just think its odd that I stopped getting my period. Then after 2 years they came back on time (which is on heard of for me), then was late, then had two in the same month... weird.. I can't find much about expelling, like women don't talk about what it feels like, it seems that a lot of people have no idea..

With my experience, I had really bad cramps and the bleeding never really stopped! My doctor told me that it was different for everyone but it was just not what I wanted. I had it I'm for a little over a year and then had it removed last month! If you don't want to go see your obgyn, at least call them and see if that's normal

Its not that I don't want to see them, I have moved to a new state and have a lapse in insurance, so I can't afford to see them right now. Planned parenthood here wanted like $80 to see me.. and for a removal there it is $150.. I just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else had an experience like this.. the cramping and pain is gone, but my strings are shorter again... If they disappear again or my AF is late again this month (or maybe next month since I have already had 2) I will take myself in to get seen. I want it out but my hubby wants to wait until September, then we will be trying for another baby. I guess its just a wait and see kind of thing! Thanks for your advice!

I don't have an answer for you but I think I am going through the same thing right now... I made an appointment for an obgyn but they can't see me for another couple weeks... I have been nauseated and sore nipples for 2 weeks now.. I started getting acne the other day, and I also took 2 pregnancy test and they both came back negative... I got the mirena put in about 3 years ago after we had our 3rd child.. I never really had a period since having the mirena so I don't know what's going on.. Im worried that I may be pregnant and I'm afraid that if I am the mirena could hurt it...

Samantha, I'm Sorry you are going through this. It's scary! I have had a few scares but everything was always negative. This time is just so weird.. I thought when I started getting my period again my body had finally adjusted to the hormones and had gotten somewhat back to normal. And then this happened! So I have no clue. My husband keeps saying I am not pregnant, but I have read that (not to scare you) that a lot of people take longer to get positives on HPTs.. Not sure why because the hormones in the Mirena should not alter the results at all. If you are pregnant (I would request a blood test) they may decide that it is best to remove the iud if it is in an ideal place. They will most likely do an ultrasound if you are pregnant to locate the position of the baby and the iud. And go from there! Good luck, please come back and let me know how this turned out for you! So.. new development.. My bleeding decided to slow to the point that I thought it was ending.. It stopped this morning and I was able to check my strings, which are now a lot shorter than the were the other day, also my cervix is kind of bulging or swollen on the top half of it.. not sure why.. I will have to keep an eye on that. Anyway, the bleeding started up again tonight... WHAT GIVES!? I had 5 days of a late period and now I'm on day 4 of the second period.. that decided to stop and start again.. crazy! I don't know what's going on in there! By the way The blood is pretty thick and dark red almost black!
