    Missed court appearance
I filed charges against a woman who hit me with her car during family dispute & had no transportation to court appearance. Will I get in trouble for not showing up?

    Hello D:

Probably not, but the charges against the lady most likely were dropped.

You might. The charges also might have been dismissed.

Did you call and tell the Court Clerk that you had transportation problems or just not show?

The woman could turn around and sue you, of course, for filing charges, dragging her to Court and then not appearing.

Did you file a civil suit or did the government file criminal charges based upon your request?
    • If it's the former, no. You wouldn't "get in trouble"; you would just loose your case.
    • If it's the latter, you could only "get in trouble" if the government had served you with a subpoena.
