I have tried attaching a USB memory stick using Windows ME as the operating system. It crashes after if has detected the plug and play, forcing you to power down.

Now when I restart it comes up with
    "can not access bpudffsd.vxd"

How do I reinstall this file? What is this file?

Also still haven't managed to install the memory stick, but could be because of this problem.

    Can't access file
    Hi,
Are you sure you spelled the .vxd file name correctly?
There is no record of such a file.
Also, why are you installing a memory stick? Or rather, what is the name of it?
Is it for a particular application?
Some programs or application require a "memory stick reader"; which you can get, download/install, from the manufacturer's website.

    Hi
It's a USB Flash Drive which is what I mean when I say memory stick.

Having looked on the web it appears that lots of people atre having the same problem when attaching things to the USB port and using ME version of windows.

Below is the error message. Have also looked on microsft to see if they have developed at patch but no joy yet.

: Invalid VxD dynamic link call from NTMAPHLP(02)+00000002 to device "004F", service 1.
: Your windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows Setup program again to correct this problem.

    Can't find bpudffsd.vxd
The answer here is the bp in the tag... it indicates "BackPack" which was a term used by MICRO-SOLUTIONS (enter just as seen) of DeKalb, Illinois who make various items of add on drives etc...

They offer in their downloads a UDF Reader (bpudf208) compatible with "BackPack" products
And in my case downloading that and installing it cured the error...

It may be that any UDF Reader... such as Roxio/Adaptec or Nero would also do the same.

Address as; http://www.micro-solutions.com ... since there is/are others using similar names that do not contain the information required

I will tell anyone here that if they are experiencing Windows ME problems, instead of wasting time working with it, to fix it, get another OS, WinXP or go back 98SE anything except WINME, it's the worst operating system ever made,
Microsoft admits this and has therefore stopped all technical support to this product,as they suggest you get rid of it themselves, that should tell you how bad it is, get something more stable.
