I still have pressure, but not like before. The motor is a lot quieter than before, you can barely hear it. It's like a gas engine that has a fouled out spark plug. Even when the motor is not running, if you place your hand on the pipes, you can feel them vibrating like something is running.

Two things:

1. Sounds like the pump is turning off sooner than before, which results in your pressure being not as high. That is a function of the switch.

2. Sounds like the pump has trouble. Could certainly happen from a lightning storm.

I'd check out the switch first. With the power off and the cover off the switch, try turning the large, center nut a full turn clockwise. Try your system again and see at what pressure the pump cuts off. Keep trying it until you get it where you want it. Many people go with the pump cutting on at 30#and off at 50#. But I'm going to guess that the switch is bad from the lightning as well. Still, won't hurt to try.

If it's a 240 volt pump, you might have lost a power feed line. May run but not too well.

What kind of pump, submersible or above ground. Sounds like a ruptured well pipe to me.

Suspected scenario: Pump runs but cannot attain normal pressure. Pump shuts off and water leaking causes vibration in pipe.

Why would the pump cutoff before it reaches cut off pressure?
