    Septic odor
My husband put RidX downour toilet last week and now the smell is overcoming my house. My house was empty for about 7 months, is there something I can put down the drains to get rid of the oder? I have tried bleach and as told to try stewed tomatoes and a package of yeast down the toilets, will that help?

The real question is 'where is that odor coming from. Have someone do a smoke test to find the vapor leak. When we did a smoke test we used a wet vac and capped the roof vents and pulled a toilet on the lowest level of the drain and put a pie tin in the wet vac and put a smoke bomb on the pie tin and lit it, then put the vac hose on the discharge side [take the filter off] and stuck it into the toilet flange and stuffed rags around it to seal it. The smoke will reveal the vapor leak. Repair the vapor leak and the odor goes away.

Does the waste drain into a septic tank? The microbial mold can grow into the fixture drain areas beyond the p-traps.
