Does anyone have any suggestions to fixing a hole in the sand under the edge of an above ground pool?

Would guess it is a critter living under the pool. Have you tried tp pour sand down the hole? Does it get kicked back out? If yes, get some of the smoke bombs they use for this purpose, light it and cover the hole with dirt and hold your foot on the dirt. Look for smoke escaping at another place too.
