I know this isn't a dictionary or anything but I can't find the meaning. I've read it in my book but I don't get it, so I'm finding any references to clarify it's meaning.

Well, I would define it as the level where electrons of a particular energy can be found.

Electrons go into higher energy levels as they get more energy.
