I currently have dark brown hair with quite large slices of blonde at the front. I'm in need of an update as I've had this style for to long, I was thinking of an all over red or maybe a dark brown to start with and then grandually lighten it before I dye it red, but I'm unsure of the consequences of putting a strong colored hair dye over the blonde highlights, the last thing I want is dye it and the front end up bright orange or some mad purple color.

Any answers given that may help will be much appreciated.
