    Grandchild taken by dcfs
My grand daughter was born and Dcfs came in a day after and took her. I don't know the mothers history and my son didn't know his girlfriends past history and he is devastated. How can I(grandma ) get care of the baby?

You /as her grandmother/ have no rights.
First-your son must act quickly and to establish himself as a legal father.
Second-your son have to petition in Court for custody determination.

You can stand behind your son and advise the court that you will help care for the child.

Why was the child taken, how long ago was this is your son on the birth certificate? ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area. Please let us know what is going on so we can help further.

It depends on the reason the child was taken. If it were because of drugs, for example, it's going to be an uphill battle. The first place to start is by contacting DCS.
