What else would keep the pilot light from staying lite besides the thermocouple? I tried three different NEW thermocouples and I still can't get it to stay lite. VERY frustrated!

Will try cleaning the pilot oriface. This has been an on and off problem for several years. Is there any adjustability on flame strength? Your recommended cleaning method? {soft brush, pipe cleaner, alcohol? } I'm getting pretty good at tearing this !@#$%^ water heater open and back together. I definitely wouldn't want to do for a living! Thanks : )
Unit is a whirlpool model FG1F4040S3PV Dated 7/03 There was some kind of recall or upgrade required the year after I bought it and they sent me a totally new access panel with all attached parts.
Probably the gas valve coil is bad. Test or replace gas valve. The flame must only cover 3/8" of end of thermocouple or it will not work.
What are you referring to?
