No... not until you turn 18.

A building cannot give legal advice.

Who at the courthouse? Unless he or she was a judge ruling in your case, you cannot rely on what they told you.

First, all questions and answers are posted to the thread. We do not permit taking help offline. Besides which we don't have your number (nor do we want it). However we do have a mobile site where you can read and post responses. But we also don't permit texting abbreviations here.

As far as I'm aware every state in the US has an age of majority of 18. Which means you can't leave home without parental permission until then. If someone told you differently they were probably wrong or you misunderstood.

I want to know who at the Courthouse gave this advice - and where you are, what State or Country?

In almost all states you an not move out at 17, in some the Children's service or police will not do anything often at 17 since they are too busy, but it is possible to be picked up by children services and put into Juv detention for "running" away.

Also if the person you move with is over 18, they can be charged for interference with custody of a minor.

Next if someone at the court house told you, ask for it in writing, since most likely it is wrong.
