    House trained dog pooping inside
We have a house trained dog, which started doing his business inside the house three days ago.

Previously this has happened maybe 3-4 times since we have this dog, and we have never punished him for it since he did not do this on purpose.

This behavior now is different though. Instead of alerting us if he needs to go, he simply goes to another room (always the same one), poops there, and then comes back. Or he waits until we leave the house and then does it, even if we are only gone for 10 minutes.

We do take our dogs for 20-30min walks 3 times a day, and so I do not understand this behavior. I have read, that changes in diet/surrounding might cause this, but neither is true in our case.

Has anyone had a similar case, or knows how to solve this issue?

    Thank you
    Michael

You don't say what breed and how old your pet is? Has the dog had any stress in its life lately?

It is a long haired dachshund. Not sure about the stress. We were on holiday with the dogs, but that was 3 weeks ago, and we do travel quite often with the dogs, so they seem to be used to that.

Something else to mention is that the place where the dog poops, is a room in which he spends a lot of time. That is very unusual as I understand.

I am now starting to suspect that this was just a case of bad coincidences and bad timing.

First I assume that the last batches of food might have been bad, even though they were within the "use by" period.

And his doing his business while we are home, might have to do with the fact, that the dog does not give any indications that he needs to go, other than him walking to the front door. We might have not noticed that.

I will monitor this a couple more days. Might really just have been several bad coincidences.
