Welcome chefg
Some breakers have to be moved to the off position to reset them. If a breaker has a little movement in it, it may have tripped. If more then one circuit, you could have lost one leg of your service.
Can you give us location of things not working?
After checking breakers, you will have to find the start of the circuit and check to see if you have power. It is possible that the wire is broken inside a wire nut. Shut power/breaker off to circuit and remove wire nuts to check. Turn breaker on and check if you have power with a volt meter.

It started in one room where one set of outlets stop working but in the same room on the opposite wall they were still working. Then the outside lights stop working this is directly below the room where it started now in another room the same thing just started some outlets and the ceiling fan and lights just stop working and this is on the other side of the house.
Are all these outlets and lights on the same breaker.
If not , what is location of breakers that you think are hooked to these units. It sounds like you have lost one leg of your service.
Call an electrician and your power company to have it checked.
