The water tube to the dispenser that fills a glass leaks, only when the dispenser is activated.

At all other times, no leaks.

Does anyone know how to get at this line to replace it? Full details, if possible...

Any special parts needed? Part numbers? Where to buy?

You will have to take the door apart and fix the line with a new compression fitting.

This is a much later model than mine, though it's the same type. It was delivered in 1996, I think.

I might guess the water control parts are the same?

I can't locate clear instructions for taking the door apart and getting to the line. Do you know what page to look at?

Look around the seal on the freezer door and under the rubber there will be Phillips head screws. Make sure they are there before removing the door. What you have to do is to disconnect the line where it leaves the door and unplug the wires. Then remove the screws on the top hinge and lift off the door and lay on a flat surface. Remove all the screws around the seals. If it has an ice door there will be screws there, too. Then replace water line and fittings, but be careful not to over tighten the fittings as they are plastic. You will usually have to dig out a new channel to put in the new line and replace the foam with the kind in a can. When you are finished let it dry good in the sun so it is warm and dry. Put a good bead of clear GE Silicone caulk around all openings wherever the inner liner contacts the outer part of door and where the water line comes out of door. You cannot have even a pinhole leak. Before you put it together make sure to hook up the water so you can test it. Make sure to clean off old caulk and only use GE Silicone caulk. That's about it. You can get the line at Home Depot or Lowe's and get extra fittings because you will need to test it before you put it back together.
