    No water from any taps
I am on a well and septic. 2 days ago, the water was sputtering from the taps. Yesterday, there was no water at all. We were able to use, it seemed, whatever was left in the holding tank, as each toilet had a flush left in it, and a very tiny stream of water came out in the bathroom. We do not believe the well is empty, as we had it tested. Now if we turn on the taps, there seems to be no air or anything coming out. Please help us find the problem... not only do we not have water, but we are snowed in as well.

    Thanks

I am guessing the water line is frozen between the well and the pressure tank. You need to figure out where it is most vulnerable to the cold, and heat it there. If it is frozen up under the ground, you may not be able to do much except pile more snow on it and hope that insulates the top of the ground from the air enough to allow heat from deeper in the ground to thaw it. You can heat metal pipes with a torch, but now would be a bad time to set the house on fire. See what you can do. If you are unsure what to do next, post back with more details, submersible pump, pit less adapter, type of pipe, etc.

Thanks for the quick reply Labman... We have a service guy coming out tomorrow morning... Perhaps the lines are frozen, but I don't believe it has been that cold out here. We had a couple of days of bad windchill, and a huge dumping of snow last night, but I have to admit that I have no idea how cold it has to be for the pipes to freeze.

    Thanks again.

You might read my post (if you haven't already) - "No water, and I stink!" - similar problem. Have you ever checked/replaced your pressure switch?

My heart's out to ya'! I was out of water for 3 days!

    No water coming from taps
I now have water and am very happy and clean! It was in fact the pressure switch. It was old and worn out. Simple to replace, but of course it had to happen during the holidays.

    Thanks.
