I am a woman and have had to resort to a do it myself auto repair job on my vehicle.
I have a 2000 Honda Passport with a 3.2L V6 engine. How do I change the thermostat myself? Please be specific. I can't afford a mechanic at this time.
Thank you!!

First, why do you need to replace the thermostat?
Thermostat Replacement
. Disconnect the negative battery cable, after recording the radio code first.
. Open the petcock and drain the radiator (into a suitable pan) to a level below the thermostat housing.
. Remove the two 10mm thermostat cover bolts.
. Separate the thermostat cover from the thermostat housing.
. IMPORTANT: Note the position of the pin in the thermostat and the position of the thermostat in the thermostat housing. Be sure to install the new thermostat (OEM only) in the same orientation.
. Remove the old thermostat and thermostat rubber from the housing.
. Install the new OEM thermostat, with a new thermostat mounting rubber, in the same orientation into the thermostat housing.
. Replace the thermostat cover and tighten the two 10mm bolts 7 lb.-ft.
. Refill the radiator with coolant.
. Reconnect the negative battery cable and enter the radio code into the radio.
. Check for leaks, especially after the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
