    Two lights wired together
We have a ceiling fan and a dinning room light that are hot wired. We do have 2 switches however we have to have the dinning room light on if we are using the living room fan. We would like to use the fan without having the other light on. I thought it would be an easy fix if we installed a light fixture with a pull chain option. I am not seeing much at all on line so I'm thinking that there must be more to this. Is there another option besides calling an electrician?
Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated

Describe the wires in the switch box. Describe the wires in the ceiling box.

Not an ideal solution but a pull chain fixture in the dining room would allow you to turn the dining room light off and still turn the fan on.
Sounds like someone tapped the hot going to the fan switch into the wire that comes FROM the dining room switch instead of the 'always hot" conductor that goes TO the dining room switch, possibly in the junction box on which the dining room light is mounted.
But that is just a guess because there are many ways those rooms could be wired.
