So I met someone on an online dating site. He is from my area, but I am currently out of the country for a little while longer. We talk on skype all of the time, usually daily and for several hours messaging and then video too. We both like each other and said we are not seeing anyone else until we meet in person after I get back. We have never actually met each other in person since I started talking to him after I left the country, but have been talking for awhile now. We have done some adult skyping and we both think our sexual likes are essentially the same. We both think the other is attractive and we both pretty much know we are going to have sex soon after meeting in person. We are both looking for a serious relationship and are in our early 20's.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What happened when you finally met and how did everything work out?
How am I supposed to greet him? Like do I just kiss him or what haha?
When meeting people from online is there anything to avoid or like awkward situations? I am not worried about the safety thing cause I am pretty sure if he was just trying to get in my pants and what not he wouldn't be skyping someone from across the ocean knowing that he wouldn't get to even meet them for over a month and we talk for really long periods too.
We seem to have strong sexual tension even on skype (I usually make him hard just talking to him lol). How will this translate into real life? We both have higher sex drives. Has anyone had sex with someone in real life after messing around on skype/ online together?

Any advice even if you don't have personal experience is welcome! :)

You still don't know him from a hole in the ground, even seeing him on Skype. I would still stick to all the ground rules associated with LDRs and never having seen them before. Just be as cautious ! Sexual inuendoes over the net are highly charged. It doesn't mean he thinks you are the sexiest woman he has ever seen, he says he gets hard, but it is only auto-suggestion

Well I have never been in a long distance relationship so I am not 100 percent on all that is involved there, especially with the never having seen each other before. I am not concerned about the safety part of it just because I can tell that he is a good guy from talking to him so much for hours upon hours. I am still going to take all of the regular precautions when I meet with him still i.e. meet in a public place, etc. I know he actually does get hard lol cause like I have said adult skyping. He always gives me the option not to but I still usually do cause I like him and it doesn't bother me. I never said he thought I was the prettiest woman ever but I do know he thinks I'm attractive and I am attracted to him too. I don't really care if he thinks other woman are more attractive cause he is the kind of guy that wants sex only in a relationship (like he has better sex morals than I do even)

I know from my experience at that age... It was all about the chase. One the chase if over... it is off to another. Sad but true most the time :(

I met my ex in exactly the same way. There are no rules as to what to do when you meet in person; you'll just have to go with what feels right and things will happen naturally. Please remember that online relationships often start as fantasy experiences. They're an opportunity to express feelings in ways one cannot in person, early in a relationship. But when you do meet in person, reality sets in and one or both of you may feel differently towards each other. I'd hate for you to put a lot of emotional investment into this relationship until you spend some 'real' time together. I'm still finding the disappointment of my failed relationship devastating because I did just that. I hope you have better luck and genuinely wish you the very best.

Thanks for the replies! I am still trying to stay realistic since I have yet to actually meet him but we do talk a lot. And the question I had posted elsewhere I got rid of anyway so.

Also it is not a cyber sexual relationship. We talk way more than we do anything of that sort. We talked for like a week for hours before it even happened. We are getting to know each other on a deeper level already and I still have quite a ways of talking before I meet him so.

Talked for a whole week, good heavens it is a life time. (LOL) The issue is after real life, being in person is different, don't rush the sex ( unless you have lower morals and will just have sex with anyone with little concern) when you meet in real life, wait weeks, just knowing.

If you read what I said you would have noticed that I said we talked for like a week every night for several hours before we did anything sexual. I have been talking to him a lot longer than that at this point. And its not that I have lower morals I just think that it is going to happen sooner than later since we have been talking so long and both seem to want to be together.

You guys don't know each other on a person to person basis. You're like in fantasy land.
It will be interesting to see how things will go once you've seen each other and had sex, how long this relationship will last.

Ive been in your shoes already.

You have two choices...
1. Have sex right away and go from there from the first night you meet. Which I definitely disagree with.
2. Get to know each other on a 1 on 1 basis. If you truly want this to go somewhere, try seeing how you two behave in a different environment. For example, my partner and I went on walks, watched movies/tv, cooked dinner, made out, slept together (no sex), until we mutually agreed.

Basically get to know if he's in it for the long run or he's just using you as something on the side. Some people just invest some time in others online just so they can be buddies. Watch out for that.
