    Depression and weight loss
Can depression cause you to loose weight? And if so, is it like a significant weight loss or a small amount?

It can do, as depression can affect your appetite. If you don't eat properley you end up losing weight.

It does not necessarily have to be a significant weight loss.

Here is the list of the symptoms of depression from NIMH:

Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" mood
    Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
    Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness
Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed, including sex
Decreased energy, fatigue, being "slowed down"
    Difficulty concentrating, remembering, making decisions
    Insomnia, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping
Appetite and/or weight loss or overeating and weight gain
Thoughts of death or suicide; suicide attempts
    Restlessness, irritability
Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain

Yes, but so does other health issues...
The weight loss can be significant, or just a little... But again, other health issues cause the same thing...
