2001 Hyundai Sonata that won't start
    Hi everyone,

What a great site! My question is this. My wife drives a 2001 Hyundai Sonata with about 86,000 miles. I've never had this problem with the car before and of course it is sitting in our garage. She went out to start it this morning. It turns over easily, but will not start or catch. It's like something is not getting gas. Checking the manual, they tell you to check the connections and coils. I did check the connections to the spark plugs. Any suggestions or hints to help me get it started. Like a typical woman, there isn't a lot of gas, a quarter of a tank, so have already checked that first. Any help would be appreciated.

Reading sections A and B should give you a good idea of things to check out. Naturally, some of the suggestions apply just to Hondas, but there is some generic material there that will help you. Be sure and test all under-dash and under-hood fuses, test for spark and, listen for the fuel pump.

You're right this is a great site. However I see your responder referred to Honda and you were asking about a Hyundai, I am curious if you have solved your problem? I own a 2002 Sonota and just today had the same problem. I replaced the battery and 1st try had the same no start. I waited 15 minutes and she started. No clue as to what happened. Maybe the system had to reset... possible but not probable, I plan on getting a diagnostic.
Please post how your problem was solved and I will reciprocate as well.

Jaxmidway, I think you should have read my response more carefully before responding. How can you possibly disagree with what I said? Did you completely miss the reference to generic information in the links that would be applicable to PeterM's Hyundai? You should have critiqued your own rambling thoughts, and lack of proper sentence structure and punctuation, before criticizing others. In order to write clearly, you first must be able to think clearly--try that next time.

No need to get upset... you disappoint me. Anyway I do owe you an apology the generic is applicable to Hyundai. You took the meaning of my response totally out of context, I was not criticizing you. Are you too upset to accept an apology. Hopefully not, I appreciate your info.
