How do I fix my hair color that is too dark and too ash?
I was a hairdresser for years and have not worked in a salon for a long time. I have worn my hair platinum blonde for years and finally decided it was too light. I spent a lot of time working on strand tests to find 'just the right color'. I finally found one I loved and scheduled an appointment with the woman who has cut my hair for 4 years. (Never had her color it before.) I wanted to go with "low-lights" to ease into the color change. I told her the colors needed to get the desired color. 8G with a gold protein color filler. (Gorgeous strawberry blonde on my strand test.) Well, she mixed 8G with 8NG and NO filler, it pulled REALLY dark and it's so ash toned. She wove some 'red' into it that is more of an eggplant purple red. I am beside myself and should have done this myself at home. I don't think my hair can handle more bleach since it was so bleached to be platinum for years. I have a few platinum highlights in the back and the top is still really blonde with lots of really DARK streaks. She says she will 'fix' it for me, but my trust in her is GONE!! I am so disappointed and MAD... I trusted her and she casually mentions, as my hair was processing, that she added some NG to it so it wouldn't be to gold. I almost lost it then.

I had it done on Thursday morning, it is now Friday night. I've washed it with regular shampoo, shampoo mixed with baking soda and then shampoo mixed with dawn dishsoap. I had my husband pick up a pack of hot oil treatments to try to continue to help fade this out until I can add gold into the darker parts and color the still platinum areas to a strawberry blonde.

    Any ideas?

Ok I've died my hair red in kool-aid before but if your willing to risk it try dyeing your hair with a lighter color and just keep doing that and it could possibly lighten up a bit (no guarantees)
