    Losing a lot of weight!
I'm 15, 5"2 and I weigh about 180 pounds. I would like to weigh 130 by the end of July or the middle of August. How can I lose this?

The most you can lose is 1-2 pounds a week, so maybe 10 pounds by mid-August.

How long has it taken to put on all that weight?

Are people in your family short and stocky? Are your family meals full of carbs and sugar and fats?

You have a long and hard road ahead of you to change how you look. You do realize that, don't you?

This can't be done in the time frame you've specified, it would be unhealthy.

It took a lifetime to get to where you are, but the good news is that it won't take a lifetime to reach your goal.

The first thing I would recommend is to talk to your doctor. Before you start a diet or exercise program it's important to get a clean bill of health. Also, your doctor can recommend a diet, and an exercise routine that's safe for you.

This will take time, and you won't notice results immediately. It also won't be easy. You have to change your eating habits and exercise, otherwise you won't lose weight. If you stick to a healthy diet, moderate exercise, you can reach your goal, but not by August.

Talk to your doctor, get on a program, stick with it and you can break the cycle.

    Good luck. :)

You need to make sure that you are eating slightly less calories than you currently are now and then make sure that what you are eating it pretty healthy. Try not to eat fast food and too many sweets. Maybe find a friend and go for daily walks and then amp the intensity up to a jog. Whatever you do though do NOT stop eating for long periods or go through times where you eat a lot and then throw it up so you don't gain weight. It will be a longer process with exercise and correct eating but it is the healthy way.
