No, in fact in most cases, they can not even be around guns, they can not have guns in their home even.

It's federal law.

One can hunt (assuming you comply with the state game laws). Just not with a modern firearm.

One can hunt with a bow and arrow, muzzleloader, etc.

Felons are prohibited from owning or handling any sort of weapon that is classed as a firearm in all states as it is a federal law (as AK Lawyer pointed out).

Black powder muzzle loaders and bows are about all that is acceptable.
