Can I get paid social security taxes back after leaving the US? (US citizen)
    Hi!

I worked in the US for 15 years and paid social security taxes and I moved out to Turkey 2 years ago for good. Unfortunately The United States has no bilateral Social Security agreement with Turkey. As a citizen is there anyway to get paid social security taxes back? I am 47 years old and I already have more than 40 credits.

    Thanks for your help!

No... you won't get them returned.

True, the FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes will NOT be returned to him, but since he worked and paid into the system for more than 10 years, he DOES qualify for benefits under current law.

Contact the U.S. Social Security Administration and have them send you the annual benefits statement that shows what you paid into the system and to what benefits you are entitled.

When you turn 62, you will need to apply for benefits. It would be best if you have a U.S. bank account to where the benefits can be direct deposited.
