My iPod is the one without the camera and it's a hand-me-down it has gotten wet a few times but works great but the speaker is really weird especially when in my ihome like all of a sudden it starts crackling and my volume to turn up doesn't work the button I don't know what to do ( I don't have a phone should I just get a iPhone or something?)

well maybe its your ihome.. I swore my iPod was broken once (I have a touchscreen nano) but turns out it was just the ihome. Apparently it had gotten water damaged.. sounds like the same thing.

Do you think maby water got on my ihome and when I put my iPod on there that's why?

Possibly!
I put my ihome in the bathroom while I take showers and it had really bad waterdamage even though it was sitting on the counter.. if there is any way water could get into it that might be what happened.. I wouldn't go out and buy a new iPod though! See if it works with a friend's ihome or see if it still has the same problem with the earphones in!
